The Other House South Kensington is the first of several residents’ clubs the lifestyle brand plans to open in the capital.

The beginning of July saw the launch of The Other House South Kensington, a new concept from The Other House lifestyle brand bringing a hotel, members’ club and private residences together into what they’re calling a residents’ club, catering for both long and short stays. The second location will make its debut in Covent Garden in spring 2024 with more locations then opening over the coming years until there is a collection of these properties in London.

The South Kensington site spans 11 historic townhouses, previously home to Harrington Hall Hotel, on Harrington Gardens. These newly transformed townhouses are now home to a collection of one- to three-bedroom Club Flats complete with kitchen and living areas, public spaces including destination bar The Owl & Monkey, all-day café The Other Kitchen, and a members’ club encompassing lounge space, a screening room, co-working space and a serene wellness area.

Marie Soliman of the interior design studio, Bergman Interiors, worked in partnership with CEO, founder and co-owner of The Other House, Naomi Heaton, on the design concept for this residential-style property. A rich palette pairing teal, reds and yellows with deep greys and blues is met with sumptuous furnishings, patterned fabrics and repurposed artworks, with references to the natural world throughout. The inner atrium home to a private members’ space and adjoining wellness area comes with a more serene aesthetic while continuing the reference to nature through the integration of full-size trees. Sustainability is at the core of the property’s design.

As a guest of the hotel, time here can be spent connecting or disconnecting in the members’ club areas and making use of the wellness facilities, which include a steam room, sauna, well-fitted gym, yoga room and vitality pool. Guests and locals then meet in the buzzy cocktail bar, The Owl & Monkey, serving signature drinks alongside small plates made using local, seasonal and sustainably sourced ingredients, as well as The Other Kitchen, which is currently serving breakfast plates but will launch its all-day dining offering next month.

Enhancing the overall experience, the property is in the process of introducing programming across gastronomy and wellness. The Other Kitchen will host a series of guest chef appearances and supper clubs and a wellness program is being rolled out for guests of the property, with wellness concierge on hand to arrange appointments for holistic therapies such as hypnotherapy, cacao ceremony and reiki. World-class personal trainers will also be leading guest sessions in the fitness centre, which was developed in collaboration with British athlete Reece Bowers.

Making ‘your home for as long as you’re in town’ its byword, The Other House ultimately aims to make guests feel like residents while also inviting food and drink lovers into its public spaces enhancing South Kensington’s restaurant and bar scene.

In Covent Garden, a landmark site made up of seven historic buildings is now undergoing refurbishment to become the next Other House residents’ club incorporating club flats, a destination bar, casual bistro, rooftop bar and private members’ club with restaurant and bar and wellness centre. The brand’s subsequent locations are to be revealed in due course.
