Villa Frantzén opened its doors in Bangkok earlier this June. This is the second venture in Asia for the restaurant group led by chef Björn Frantzén who is best known for his namesake Frantzén, the first restaurant in Sweden to be awarded three Michelin stars, which also sits at No. 6 on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. The group first entered Asia in 2018 with three-Michelin-starred Zén in Singapore. Villa Frantzén is their fifth global concept, and a sixth one is set to open at Harrod’s London later this year.

The interiors of the 400 s.q.m. villa, designed by Joyn Studio, in partnership with the restaurant group, features items on both walls and tables designed by Swedish craftsmen, including cutlery, handmade ceramics and woodworks. Dining at the main room offers an opportunity to observe the open kitchen. There are also three private dining rooms, as well as a glasshouse overlooking the outdoor patio.

Guests can expect a five-course Nordic menu with Asian influences, prepared by executive chef Martin Enström and executive sous chef Nilas Corneliussen. Signature Frantzén dishes such as Villa Frantzén’s Prestige Selection caviar spread with jackfruit, coconut waffles and brown butter; French toast a’la Villa Frantzén with Vendace roe and västerbotten cheese; and poached Oyster 63.4C with smoked cream and spicy pumpkin and sea buckthorn oil, are also on the menu.

Next door, the Villa Frantzén Cocktail Bar, helmed by bar manager Gabriel Valdés, formerly of Pharmarium in Stockholm, offers cocktails expressing both Nordic and Asian influences. It is the first standalone bar venture in the Frantzén Group,

Villa Frantzén is located at 7 Yen Akat soi 3 Chongnonsi, Yannawa, 10120 Bangkok, Thailand. For more information, visit the Villa Frantzén website
