Opened right in the middle of the pandemic, this lovely boutique retreat has not received all the attention that it deserves. The Beatrice, a charming 47 room hotel, is located right in the middle of downtown Providence. You can stroll to numerous attractions, including the country’s oldest shopping mall, Providence Performing Arts Center and the RISD Art Museum. Bookstores, local craft stores and family owned diners are just steps away. Once inside, guests are greeted by a warm, eager-to-please staff. But if you want to go straight up to your room, you can use the electronic key that will be sent to you when your room is ready.
The rooms themselves are modern and welcoming and have high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows and extremely comfortable sitting areas. Several luxurious and fun touches make guests feel extra appreciated. You can go to bed encased in Italian Mascioni sheets. The bathroom features a Dyson, hair dryer, as well as one of those fancy, heated spray toilets and speakers so you can enjoy your favorite tunes in the shower. A very well-equipped gym is a great place to work out and several running options are nearby. Enjoy a book or a conversation in the wood-paneled mezzanine space.
While hotel food can be less than exciting, The Beatrice’s dining option is one of the best in the city. Bellini features amazing Italian food in a festive environment with some of the happiest servers I have encountered. It is the first Bellini location in New England, created by fourth generation restaurateur, Ignazio Cipriani. The cocktail and wine list is quite extensive, but why not start your meal with a Bellini cocktail? It is challenging to choose from the enticing menu where every item is first-rate; favorites include the homemade pastas, including “fusilli “alla Norma” and outstanding spinach tortellini. You can also indulge in creative interpretations of the classics, such as grass-fed beef Milanese and yellowfin tuna carpaccio. And don’t forget to save room for the tiramisu.
For a more casual meal, stop by Hope & Main, where you can choose between a large selection of treats from up-and-coming local food entrepreneurs, as well as breakfast sandwiches and vegan bowls. You can also enjoy a drink and a plate of small bites on the rooftop lounge, a private club that is open to hotel guests and where speciality cocktails and scheduled events add to the intimate hotel vibe.
Whether you are seeking a staycation, or are in town for a business meeting or a college tour, The Beatrice will not disappoint. The vibe is modern, warm and luxe.
