In taffeta and tulle that seemed to stretch as far as the eye can see, Giambattista Valli unveiled a dreamy collection of big silhouettes and romantic looks that captivate. His concoctions enthrall and trance those who are moved by his flamboyancy.
The Giambattista Valli spring-summer 2023 collection was held in the center of Paris, in the jewelry quarter, in Place Vendôme. Last night’s temps were blistering cold so guests were eager to get seated in warmth. As soon as the show started the most desirable looks in baby pinks, yellows, baby blues, cream whites with rose pink prints, deep orange, fiery red, blacks, gold paired with silver, and blush peach descended from backstage.
Valli paired shimmery jumpsuits with flowing fabric. Gowns are given high waisted bodices, and the skirting is either A-line princess cut or mermaid. There was no shortage of ostrich feathers. Shoulder to floor coat dresses are covered completely in feathers. And even pleats were a technique applied to looks.
The ambience and energy of Beverly Hills was his inspiration. The color tones and hues of the Beverly Hills Hotel was his guide. With stylists like Wayman and Micah in the audience, it seems sure that these escaping looks will be on the Oscars, the Met Gala, Cannes, and Venice red carpets this year. Quite frankly, the looks in the collection are made to be seen and are red carpet magnets.
What Valli has been able to do is capture the female form in various styles. There is something for every type of woman. Unashamedly, Valli has poofed with more poofs, hugged curves, and draped like never before.
As the bride descended a White Lotus sounding tune began, which sparked whispers in the audience of the similarities between the finale music and the hit HBO Max show.
