In a first ever, Chloé has partnered with British heritage brand Barbour as part of their Spring 2023 collection. The partnership has resulted in desirable coats, boots, and winter accessories.
The partnership was a no-brainer for Gabriela Hearst, Chloé’s creative director. She grew up on a ranch in Uruguay and remembers her father and step father, who were both Gauchos (skilled horsemen) being avid wearers of Barbour.
Designed by Chloé, the French House pulled heavily on the Barbour archive, one that goes back to 1910 to create the collection. “The collection comprises three garments including: the Dany coat and Dustyn jacket, which both feature ruffles on the shoulders to form the inimitable Chloé winged silhouette; as well as the Hadrien cape,” shares the Chloé in notes.
And the accessories are also produced by Chloé using Barbour materials. The Edit bag styles are done in medium and large sizes. There are the Mallo boots and the Noua boots in combat style, and there is a silk square scarf and a bucket hat. The print designs include Barbour’s waxed cotton fabrics in night sky, peat, and forest shades; and some pieces in the collection include Barbour’s tartan check.
Barbour is a one-hundred-year-old company, while Chloé is seventy years old. Products from both brands are made to be timeless and long-lasting. In 2021, Barbour celebrated ‘re-waxing,’ a sustainable service that has helped clientele extend the life of its products for the last century. Chloé’s values of sustainability flows in line with Barbour’s, a reason the two chose to partner.
The collection can be purchased for a pre-launch at Matches Fashion starting December 2nd. It can then be purchased from Chloé boutiques, barbour.com, and select stores where Barbour is sold from December 9th onwards.
