For the first time Fendi, the Roman luxury brand has opened a boutique in the heart of Madrid. Located in El Corte Inglés (The Green Court) Castellana, in the Cuatro Caminos area of the city, it was time for the company to settle in the Spanish capital.

If you know Madrid then you know El Corte Inglés and that it’s one of the city’s premier department stores, selling luxury brands. The Fendi boutique is 1,500+ square feet, filled with women’s ready-to-wear handbags, shoes, and accessories.

“It’s inspired from locals’ materials, white hand-made ceramic tiles with a reinterpretation of the FF logo designed by Karl Lagerfeld for the Fall/Winter 2013 collection wrap the façade of the store,” notes the house.

The boutique is more of a cube shape, giving a circular feel with the organization of the space, and four focus walls. The walls were designed to give a unique feel. Done with perspective cuts, that according to Fendi, “has the alternation of white Arabescato marble and ivory pozzolanica.” Designers went into house archives to add the typical Roman patterns.

Created in 1925 by Edorado and Adele Fendi, in Rome. The couple opened their first boutique, which was initially a handbag shop, with a fur workshop that later followed. Fendi became a name synonymous with luxury, elegance, innovation, style, and craftmanship. And having Karl Lagerfeld helm the house as Artistic Director, along with Silvia Venturini Fendi from 1965 to 2019 brought more prestige to the brand.

In 2000 the LVMH Group acquired Fendi, and a year later the company became the fashion conglomerate’s majority shareholder. Succeeding Lagerfeld was British designer Kim Jones, who heralded as Couture and Womenswear, while beside him is Delfina Delettrez Fendi- a fourth generation Fendi- who directs jewellery.

This new boutique has metal niches with handmade ceramic background showcase bags all around the store, as well as accessories and shoes. Ready-to-wear items are presented on champagne metal tubular structures.

As Fendi begins to have a relationship with the Spanish and visitors through this Madrid boutique, it will continue in the brand’s Roman spirit. Matching innovation and tradition, Roman heritage is alive in the city of the Prado Museum.
