One of Kennebunkport’s most luxurious and enticing escapes has unveiled an alluring new reason to visit this summer.

Hidden Pond—a jewel in the crown of the acclaimed Kennebunkport Resort Collection—and renowned American menswear designer Todd Snyder have introduced a new chapter in their haute hospitality partnership with the May 2022 debut of The Bungalows by Todd Snyder. His achingly chic redesign of the resort’s 20 bungalows—influenced by Snyder’s travels to Maine’s Rangeley Lakes, Mount Katahdin, and Sebago Lake—seamlessly meld his approachable yet distinct style and the celebrated property’s rustic charm ethos to dazzling effect.

The three design themes artfully reference different natural environments. Countryside bungalows showcase a moody, nature-inspired aesthetic; classic military camouflage fatigue and utilitarian decor—signature motifs of the Todd Snyder brand—come to life via camouflage wallpaper and custom benches crafted from repurposed army tents. Meanwhile, the Mountainside design concept mirrors Mount Katahdin—Maine’s highest mountain, located in Baxter State Park—with a color palette of cool blues, vivid greens, and warm umbers. Laid-back summer vibes fill the Seaside bungalow—Snyder’s take on the classic American beach home— where John Derian oyster shell wallpaper, off-white hardwood floors, and sisal rugs envelop guests in luxurious languor.

Each 650-square-foot bungalow features a floor-to-ceiling stone gas fireplace, an outdoor rain shower, screened-in porch with a cozy daybed, a spacious marble bathroom, plush king-sized bed, and multiple windows framing views the surrounding forest. Other inspired touches include a custom Spotify playlist by Snyder, and a dark & stormy cocktail kit—the designer’s favorite tipple—complete with mint from the property’s garden and locally distilled rum.

The inspired overhaul follows on the heels of the success of Snyder’s first-ever hotel collaboration with the property in September 2020 with The From Away Lodge by Todd Snyder—an immersive, two-bedroom Treetop Lodge inspired by the designer’s Fall 2020 “From Away” Runway Collection with L.L.Bean.

While the rooms’ high style and comfort quotient may tempt you to stay inside all day, Hidden Pond’s myriad other charms prove impossible to resist. Nestled on 60 acres of pristine birch tree forest, the resort is a universe unto itself, complete with two pools, an organic farm, and moss-covered nature trails that wind through the enchanting grounds.

At lunchtime, it’s worth wandering over to the food truck behind reception for a scrumptious tuna poke bowl accompanied by a crisp frosé, then borrow a beach cruiser and pedal to the nearby Goose Rocks Beach—where The Tides Beach Club, Hidden Pond’s charming sister property, presides over the waterfront from its prime perch.

Back at the resort, head to the tucked-away Tree Spa for its signature “Transcend in the Trees” treatment, a transportive massage that incorporates gemstones and herb-infused oils to relax and rejuvenate mind and body. Then—after luxuriating for a bit in your bungalow—beeline to the resort’s destination restaurant, Earth at Hidden Pond, for a dining experience you won’t soon forget. Its three- or four-course tasting menus includes an array of beautifully composed, dishes, including a starter of beef tartare with cilantro cream and spicy peanuts; mains ranging from Peking duck with parsnip and poached rhubarb, to asparagus risotto with Meyer lemon and parmesan; and fresh-fried donuts with sarsaparilla glaze and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

You can relish these delectable dishes in private dining venues that accommodate from 6-20 guests (the 12-person Painting Shed—featuring artwork blanketing the vaulted ceiling—is arrestingly atmospheric), or in the dining room, where light-laden branches cast a lustrous golden glow.
